Arya News Agency-During a session of Iran’s **Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission**, Foreign Minister **Abbas Araghchi** faced questions from **nine lawmakers** covering various foreign policy and economic issues.
Commission spokesperson **Ebrahim Rezaei** reported that the main topics included **economic diplomacy**, **implementation of Article 101 of the Seventh Development Plan**, **water diplomacy**, **Iran’s cooperation with neighboring countries**, **anti-Israel legislation**, **the presence of IAEA inspectors in Iran**, and **the role of a figure named Francesco in the JCPOA**.
Araghchi stated that the **Foreign Ministry prioritizes economic diplomacy**, facilitating trade and removing obstacles for Iranian businesses, and is also pursuing **provincial economic diplomacy** to boost cross-border cooperation. He noted progress in **water diplomacy**, with a national plan being developed, and confirmed that **commercial attachés are active in 16 countries**.
On sanctions, Araghchi emphasized two missions: **lifting sanctions under the supervision of the Supreme National Security Council**, and **neutralizing their effects**. Regarding the **IAEA inspections**, he said they are carried out strictly under parliamentary law and with the council’s approval. No inspectors were allowed into sensitive sites recently attacked, and the only approved accesses were for **fuel replacement at the Bushehr plant** and **medical isotope production in Tehran**.
In response to a question about **“Francesco’s role” in the JCPOA**, Araghchi clarified that this EU representative was only involved in discussions on sanctions and had **no significant influence** on the main content of the deal.
He also addressed the **status of the JCPOA**, stating that **UN Resolution 2231 has ended**, but the **JCPOA itself remains in place**; Iran has suspended implementation since 2020 but remains a member because certain provisions still benefit the country. Cooperation with **China and Russia** continues within the framework of their **20- and 25-year strategic agreements**.
Out of the nine lawmakers, **three were satisfied** with Araghchi’s responses, **three were not**, and **three requested additional time for review**.
